Projects in Catalonia

Supporting migrant integration through reception, training, and cultural exchange

The Challenge of Migration

Migrant people who have entered Spanish territory without a visa face enormous challenges. To regularize their situation, they need to be registered in Spain for three years without interruption before they can look for a job offer that allows them a residence and work permit.

During this time, they live in a situation of social exclusion that makes them invisible. If they don't understand the language and don't know about available resources, the situation becomes very complicated.

"So we got to the placa and I saw a lot of people and asked them 'where do we have to sleep today?' and they just said, 'anywhere you find'. The first night, I passed in the street."

Rashid Idrissu Awari CEHDA Founder, describing his journey to Europe
